Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Laboratory

My laboratory is contained within the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Laboratory (BMBL) in the College of Health Studies, located in the Elma Roane Fieldhouse on the University of Memphis campus. This facility supports the research of several investigators in basic molecular and cellular biology.

The BMBL is outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment which allow me to carry out comprehensive studies in immunophysiology and immunometabolism, including:

  • Seahorse XFp extracellular flux analyzer (Agilent)

  • Attune NxT flow cytometer (Thermo Fisher)

  • QuantStudio 6 quantitative real-time PCR system (Thermo Fisher)

  • EVOS M7000 inverted live cell fluorescence microscope (Thermo Fisher)

  • iBright FL1500 western blot imager (Thermo Fisher)

  • Oroboros O2k oxygraph (Oroboros Instruments)

  • CellRad benchtop cell irradiator (Faxitron)

  • Synergy 2 multimodal plate reader (BioTek)

  • Axio Imager M2 fluorescence microscope (Zeiss)

The laboratory also contains three biosafety cabinets, four CO2 incubators, a spectrophotometric plate reader and a plate washer, electrophoresis and blotting equipment, a magnetic cell sorting system, a thermal cycler, a nanospectrophotometer, refrigerated- and non-refrigerated centrifuges, a number of ultralow freezers and conventional refrigerators and freezers, and various shakers, rockers, vortexes, and additional small equipment for routine laboratory applications.
